Paddocks


All our horse paddocks are fenced with white three rail ©Polvin Platinum Series PVC safety horse fencing in combination with ©ElectroBraid high visibility electric fencing to ensure as much as possible the safety of your horses.

All gates are easy one hand latching so that you can keep easy control of your horse while opening and closing gates.

All paddocks have automatic watering systems that have a control tap at each tank allowing isolation and ease of cleaning.  All watering tanks are private, eliminating any possible cross contamination.

All paddocks have numerous trees and natural vegetation for shade and wind break which ensures comfort with changes in the weather.

Paddocks are undulating with varying angles, this ensures horses use their hindquarters and encourages muscle building even when you're not working them!  All paddocks have level areas allowing relaxation, comfort to lay down or roll.

Paddocks provide opportunity for self learning for horse's awareness of their footing, which ensures your horse excellent balance and foot placement.

Paddock variations also encourages interest and mental stimulation for the horses thus reducing the chance of boredom and related behavioral problems.


Paddock Sizes

Paddock sizes are between 1 acre - 3 acres (approximately).

1 acre paddocks are private, with a limit of two same owner horse per paddock.

1.5 acre paddock is allowed maximum of two horses (must be owned by the same Agister).

3 acre paddock is allowed 3 maximum horses (must be owned by the same Agister). 

Co-Sharing of paddocks between Agisters in no preferred and requires written permission from owner.

Flat vs Hilly Paddocks

Flat paddocks are for people, easier to care for, easier to fence, easier to walk around, easier to clean.

Raise a foal in a flat spotless paddock, don't complain that it doesn't seem to know how to even step over a log or get their balance and centre of gravity right. I've trained horses that nearly fall over when we ride down hill, as they haven't learned what to do with their legs or footing to balance down hill.

It's so important for horses especially young horses to learn to change their own centre of gravity to cope with the changes.

Imagine never learning how to do that in a flat paddock. Then being expected to have a person on your back and you have to balance them as well, when you never really learn how to balance yourself first.

I take my foals to run on rough steep ground. I ride out and pony foals and young horses specifically to get some hill work going.

I grew up in the country with our place on the side of the steep hill and all our horses were again sound, fit and healthy.

So negatives on sloping or hilly paddocks... for the horse NONE, for the paddock owner some increased fitness so you can keep up with your hill fit horse!
